A tiny bit of editing

Take a look at this Straits Times piece:

http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/SEAsia/Story/STIStory_513612.html

... and then this one by Reuters.

Amazing how much of a difference a little bit of editing can make to the story and turn the tone of the story around almost entirely. The Straits Times story is simply a cut down version of the original Reuters one but the tone could hardly be more different.

Rest in peace, Hiro Muramoto

  1. Some people have looked too closely and thus missed the point. The point is the pro-government story is relegated to a sidebar, looking almost like a Google Ad if you don't look closely enough, while the anti-Government text remains in the main part of the article.

Very subtle layout, and yet to someone with only 3 minutes to glance at it, the main story is all you see.
